Professional learning groups for principals
Connecting leaders for shared growth
Being a school principal can be a rewarding yet challenging journey, and often a solitary one. Our professional learning groups for principals are designed to connect leaders across different schools to share insights, learn together, and grow as collaborative education leaders. We have supported 1931 principals across the country since 2017, helping them build strong, effective networks and advance their leadership capabilities.
Why join a professional learning group?
Our professional learning groups offer principals an opportunity to:
Collaborate with peers: Discuss challenges, solutions, and experiences in a supportive environment with other school leaders.
Drive strategic improvement: Explore new strategies and ideas to enhance school culture, student outcomes, and staff wellbeing.
Access targeted support: Learn from experienced facilitators who understand the complexities of school leadership and offer practical, tailored guidance.
Build a network of support: Establish connections that foster ongoing support beyond the group meetings, ensuring principals don’t face challenges alone.
How do our professional learning groups work?
Regional connections
Professional learning groups foster regional connections, allowing principals to build relationships with peers from nearby schools. These regional networks enhance collaboration on local challenges, provide insight into context-specific issues, and build a support system that understands the unique regional dynamics of each area. Whether your school is urban or rural, these groups are a valuable way to build supportive, regionally focused networks that last beyond the sessions.
Engagement models
Our professional learning groups offer two flexible engagement models to fit different needs:
Model 1: Two 2-hour sessions per term: This model provides in-depth learning and discussion spread across the year, ideal for principals seeking sustained and concentrated growth.
Your investment: $1250 + GST for one year for each principal, plus a share of any travel costs.
Model 2: Six 2-hour sessions throughout the year: This model allows consistent engagement with topics, offering regular opportunities to reflect, collaborate, and grow with peers.
Your investment: $940 +GST for one year for each principal, plus a share of any travel costs.
Both models ensure principals have access to 12-16 hours of facilitated learning annually, tailored to their development needs and schedules.
Flexible engagement models: Choose from two different engagement options—two 2-hour sessions per term (Model 1) or six 2-hour sessions spread across the year (Model 2). Both models ensure meaningful, sustained learning and discussion throughout the year.
Commitment to growth: Groups consist of a minimum of four principals, running for a full year to ensure participants have the time to build deep relationships and trust. This consistency is crucial for effective collaboration and shared growth.
Transparent and shared costs: The PLG fee is invoiced annually, and travel costs are shared across participants. We also provide virtual options to reduce expenses without compromising on quality.
Ideal for experienced principals: This PLG is particularly suited for principals in their fourth year of leadership. If you're a newer principal, ask us about our tailored support offerings for early leadership.
Regular meetings: Principals meet at scheduled intervals, either online or in-person, to discuss key topics and share experiences. The meetings are structured but flexible, allowing principals to bring forward the issues that matter most to them.
Facilitated discussions: Experienced facilitators guide conversations to ensure they are meaningful, actionable, and focused on improving leadership effectiveness.
Problem-solving and peer support: Each session offers time to address real-world problems faced by principals, harnessing the collective wisdom of the group to identify solutions and new approaches.
