Mary Chamberlain

Mary is a director of Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga and an education consultant. She is a thought leader in curriculum and one of New Zealand’s most respected educators, with deep expertise in designing effective education systems. Mary served as Chair of the Curriculum, Progress, and Achievement Ministerial Advisory Group (2018–2019) and was a member of the NZQA board (2016–2023).

She has contributed to education system reviews in Indonesia, the Solomon Islands, and Samoa. In recognition of her services to education, she was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) in the 2012 New Year’s Honours.

Mary is passionate about achieving more equitable education outcomes and enjoys tackling challenges related to quality teaching and learning at school, regional, and system levels.

In her spare time, she enjoys growing vegetables, raising bees, playing golf, tramping, and leisurely cycling.
