Andrea Hamilton
Andrea works as an education consultant in the Central Otago, Otago and Southland regions. She lives in Lauder (Central Otago).
She works with schools and Kāhui Ako in the following areas:
assessment for learning
engaging adult learners – supporting leaders to facilitate effective professional learning for their teams
mentoring and coaching school leaders and leadership teams
teaching, leading and learning as inquiry
curriculum development and review
leading adult learning.
Andrea comes from a background in primary school teaching and leadership and has a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Teaching (Primary).
Core to Andrea's work is her commitment to developing quality learning programmes that raise achievement and reduce disparity for learners. She enjoys supporting schools with assessment for learning knowledge, practice and skills. She has experience using effective assessment tools within schools. Andrea knows how to embed data systems that help teachers understand learner progress and achievement more.
She brings proven experience and passion for mentoring and coaching teachers and school leaders. Andrea knows that deliberate acts of leadership can enhance a learning culture. She uses inquiry as a fundamental tool to create positive and sustainable change.
Andrea designs curriculum that promotes student agency. She supports schools in providing a rich curriculum so that learners are active in their own learning pathway.
When Andrea has spare time she enjoys relaxing with her whānau and friends, having fun and keeping fit.
