Professional learning group for senior leaders in primary

An opportunity for Christchurch primary associate principals, deputy principals, and senior leader to form professional learning groups.

Are you an AP, DP or senior leader who’s been looking for an opportunity to connect with other like-minded leaders? Are you wanting to grow your professional network? Do you want a chance to talk about leadership, education, and your own professional learning journey? Then this group may just be what you’ve been looking for!

We are offering the opportunity of professional learning groups (PLGs) dedicated to Christchurch senior leaders who are working in the primary sector.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the senior leader PLG is to:

  1. Build/extend professional learning networks

  2. Enhance leadership capabilities

  3. Offer an opportunity to critique and debate educational initiatives

  4. Collaboratively critique problems of practice

  5. Co-construct PLG journey

What to expect

You will meet with a dedicated group of other Christchurch senior leaders who work in primary/intermediate schools. This small group will meet locally, face-to-face twice each term. You will have the opportunity to learn with/from each other, to enhance your leadership capabilities by exploring and debating educational initiatives and to further develop an understanding of what’s happening outside of your own educational context. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to hear a variety of perspectives outside of your normal environment and collaboratively problem solve. Most importantly, you will have the ability to co-construct what happens within the PLG.

Each meeting is held from 4pm to 6pm so leaders do not have to find release time from school. Afternoon tea and beverages will be provided at each meeting.

Group numbers will be capped at eight participants. Once a group is full, a new cohort will be started. This ensures that the group stays small enough for effective interaction and that high trust is built between members.
