Professional learning group for deans
Supportive networks for deans: learn, grow, lead
Our professional learning groups (PLGs) for deans provide a unique opportunity for those in pastoral leadership to come together, share experiences, and deepen their expertise. We understand the importance of deans in creating positive school cultures, supporting student wellbeing, and navigating the complexities of secondary education. Our PLGs are designed to support you in doing just that.
We have focused on deans because we’ve heard from many of you that additional support is needed, especially in light of the education challenges many ākonga are experiencing. These PLGs are aimed at providing that vital support.
Why join a professional learning group for deans?
Connect and collaborate: Engage with a network of peers who understand the unique challenges you face. These groups are safe spaces to share insights, support each other, and learn collaboratively.
Learn from experienced facilitators: Our expert facilitators bring years of experience in pastoral leadership and secondary education. They will guide your PLG, providing evidence-based strategies and facilitating deep discussions on best practices.
Focus on real challenges: Each session is designed around the issues that matter most to deans. From managing student wellbeing to supporting diverse learners, the discussions and resources are relevant to your day-to-day challenges.
Tailored support for your role: Whether you’re new to the role or an experienced dean, our PLGs are structured to support your professional growth, helping you build practical skills and increase your impact within your school community.
What to expect
Each meeting is held from 4pm to 6pm so leaders do not have to find release time from school.
Group numbers will be capped at eight participants. Once a group is full, a new cohort will be started. This ensures that the group stays small enough for effective interaction and that high trust is built between members.
Regular meetings: Join twice-termly PLG sessions where you will work with peers to explore key topics, engage in problem-solving, and reflect on your own practice.
Facilitated discussions: Our facilitators lead discussions focused on current challenges, offering guidance and creating space for shared learning.
Peer support and networking: Build a network of supportive colleagues who are facing similar challenges, creating a community of learning that extends beyond the sessions.
