Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is common in many learners you support. As a teacher aide, it is important that you understand key features of this diagnosis, how it presents in a range of learners, and how you can support them best.

What to expect

This is a one-day workshop. You will learn with and from others in this interactive workshop. The workshop will focus on building your key understanding and give you loads of practical support that you can start to implement with the ākonga you support. 

Learning outcomes

You will:

  • learn the language and terms associated with disruptive, impulse control, and conduct disorders, including attention deficit with hyperactivity disorder

  • contribute to discussion on the characteristics of a range of these disorders

  • understand the environmental factors that impact on behaviour associated with conduct disorders

  • learn a range of positive behaviour support strategies to prevent escalation of behaviour

  • learn inclusive and culturally responsive ways to respond to behavioural challenges

  • develop knowledge of skills required when working in culturally appropriate ways with whānau and tamariki with conduct disorders

This course is suitable for grade B, C, or D teacher aides.

Registrations are $360 + GST per person.

Teacher aide investment

This workshop costs $360.00 + GST per person.

Teacher aides who have applied for funding from the Ministry of Education. Please note you will NOT be able to enrol unless you have received your teacher aides' application reference number (ARN). This number is needed to register for this course.
