Carolyn Marino
Carolyn is a principal advisor with Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga, working with beginning principals in the Auckland area.
Over the last 25 years working in senior leadership roles, most recently as principal for 15 years at Westmere School in central Auckland, Carolyn has recognised and developed her passion for growing leadership in others, particularly those in middle leadership roles.
Within her current role, Carolyn acknowledges the privilege it is to work collaboratively with beginning principals/tumuaki to provide targeted, tailored and timely support to meet their individual needs as educational leaders.
Carolyn has a special interest in how leaders support teachers to shift their mindsets to working in effective collaborative relationships to maximise ways of enhancing student agency. She brings to her work the findings from her APPA/ASB Travelling Fellowship in 2016, to support school leaders to align the beliefs and mindsets of school staff with a strong and compelling vision for future focused learning for all.
Carolyn has a Masters in Educational Management (1st Class hons), and has been an active member and supporter of the Auckland Inner City Principals’ Association, the emerging Kāhui Ako o Waitemātā and Auckland Primary Principals’ Association.
Carolyn tries to live by her mantra “work hard, play hard” and enjoys cycling and walking through NZ’s fabulous scenery, travelling to exotic places overseas, pottering in the garden, reading and socialising with friends and family.
Here is the blog post that Carolyn has written to share her thinking with the education sector:
